The Role We Want You For

The Urban Designer 2 is responsible for the delivery of projects from design concept through construction completion while ensuring a consistent and high level of quality in their preparation.

The Specifics of the Role

• Delivers analysis, design and urban design documents and presentations; coordinates with a multi-disciplinary design team.
• Helps to manage the project and serves as a key client liaison on behalf of the firm.
• Supports winning work and proposal preparation.
• Active in the Design Community.
• Can collect and analyze data for a project, develop appropriate documents and prepare client-facing deliverables for a variety of projects including master planning, corridor plans, neighborhood plans, sub ara plans, feasibility studies, and concept plans.
• Has experience using 3D design software during the design process.
• Has managed subconsultant coordination for a variety of project types.
• Understanding and application of AI based tools during the design process is required.

Requirements:

• Position requires a Bachelor's degree (Landscape Architecture, Architecture, Urban Planning, Urban Design, City Design, or related field) or foreign degree equivalent, and 8 years of experience.
• 8 years of experience in design.
• 8 years of experience managing construction document preparation.
• 8 years of experience with computer based drafting tools, including any combination of the following: AutoCAD and Revit.
• 8 years of experience with Adobe Creative Cloud, including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
• 8 years of experience with GIS and 3D modeling tools, including any combination of the following: Sketchup, Rhino and Enscape.
• 3 years of experience with Placer.ai, Mid Journey, ARC GIS Pro/ESRI business analyst, and Chat GPT.
• Position allows for occasional telecommuting within commuting distance of headquarter office in Chicago, IL.
• Position may require domestic travel up to 10% for site visits and out of town project meetings.

• The salary range for this position considers a wide range of factors in making compensation decisions including but not limited to: Education, qualifications, skills, training, experience, certifications, internal equity, and location. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for the role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The Clayco Nationwide salary listed for this position is $108,472.00 annually (not adjusted for location).
