Senior Mechanical Design Technician
EwingCole is a nationally recognized architecture, engineering, interior design and planning firm with offices across the country. We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Technician to join our team in our Irvine office. The Senior Design Technician is responsible for detail, documentation and coordination of HVAC building components.
Essential Functions
- Perform HVAC load calculations.
- Select equipment such as fans, air handling units, heat exchangers, chillers, etc.
- Size and layout ductwork and piping.
- Layout equipment rooms with proper clearance and access.
- Design and draft details, sections, etc.
- Confer with project team members and other engineering personnel and prepare design modifications as required.
- Survey existing conditions and perform field reviews, investigations, processing of submittals during construction phase.
- Stay abreast of state-of-the-art design through independent reading, attendance of seminars and continuing education. Participate in design, analysis and documentation training.
- Mentor junior staff.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested.
Requirements
- Associate's degree or technical school certification
- 10 years of relevant experience
- Knowledge of current codes and practices
- Strong drafting documentation knowledge
- Understanding of engineering calculation software and equipment selection programs
- Experience with AutoCAD/Revit
- Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree
