Catering Services Assistant

Gensler is seeking a Catering Services Assistant to join our growing team in the Washington, DC office. We are looking for someone who will take pride in our beautifully designed workspace and wants to play a key role in its upkeep. This person will be an important part of our team, helping with pantry maintenance, meeting setup and breakdown and conference room cleanliness. What You Will Do

  1. Hours – the regular schedule hours are 9:00am – 6:00pm with flexibility. Depending on the meetings and events there may be early mornings, evenings and occasional weekend hours required
  2. Work with office services team to support all aspects of both internal and external events; client meetings, receptions and special events
  3. Respond to staff needs for pantry supplies, equipment and services
  4. Assist with other office duties as requested
  5. Storage areas. Assuring our storage rooms are well stocked, organized and clean
  6. Conference room cleanliness and upkeep, including moving furniture or chairs is required
  7. Office clean outs – assist with moving textile samples, hauling to designated trash receptables (dumpsters)
  8. Inventory & Purchasing – tracking, ordering and stocking dry goods, office supplies, printer resources
  9. Other duties and responsibilities as needed
  10. Potential for growth with more office management type responsibilities as you gain experience

Your Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in meeting planning or catering services (ideally within an office environment), or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Bachelor's degree in related field is preferred, but not required
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
  • Conference center and meeting planning experience
  • Attention to detail while maintaining a big picture orientation
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Highly efficient and productive team member within the meetings department and Gensler
  • Work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment
  • Solid capabilities with computer programs (MS Office, Windows-based programs, e-mail, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver great internal and external service: anticipating needs and taking the extra steps to ensure a positive experience
  • Able to work both independently and within a team; possesses effective prioritization and time management skills
  • Adaptable and flexible in a dynamic environment with shifting priorities

Physical Demand

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • May regularly lift and carry up to 20 lbs. and move (push mail cart) over 50 lbs
  • Requires regular twisting/turning/squatting/bending/reaching/lifting and prolonged periods of sitting, standing or walking
  • Frequent use of hand and foot controls
  • May occasionally need to climb stairs

This is not a remote position. The successful candidate will be expected to live in, or relocate to, the Washington, DC area upon acceptance.

The estimated base salary range for this position is $60,000-65,000, plus eligibility for bonuses and a comprehensive benefits package. Final compensation is contingent on location and relevant skills, qualifications and experience.
