Gensler Designer

Your role as a Gensler Designer with our team in Washington, D.C., is to combine creativity and technical knowledge with business skills and understanding to produce functionally beautiful spaces for our incredible clients. With you as part of the team, our designs have never been so engaging.

What you will do:

  • Collaborate on interior architecture and interior design projects that include programming client needs, conceptual design, schematic design, design development, space planning, and management of budgets and schedules
  • Coordinate with Interior Designers, Project Architects and Project Managers to deliver project milestones
  • Provide project team coordination for finish plans, specifications, and material selections needed for construction
  • Provide design support and documentation during completion and execution of design concepts
  • Work with external consultants, product representatives, furniture dealers, consultants, and fabricators to meet overall project objectives
  • Assist in managing client expectations, team communication and consultant coordination
  • Establish and maintain ongoing, productive client relationships

Your qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture or Architecture from an accredited program
  • 3-6 years of professional experience with commercial architecture & design firms; inclusive of at least 1 year of workplace (office) interior architecture and interior design projects
  • Proficient in Revit, SketchUp, AutoCAD, 3D and other modeling software programs
  • Proficiency with Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and SPEXX a plus
  • Knowledge of the design process, including FF+E, furniture systems and specifications, color and materials
  • Conceptual 3-dimensional thinking and graphic presentation skills to effectively communicate design ideas
  • Ability to focus on concurrent projects in various stages of development
  • Ability to communicate design ideas and direction quickly
  • A quick learner with an ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment
  • Leadership, organization, communication and relationship management skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to sustainability and sustainable building practices; ideally portfolios will include at least one project (especially built projects with LEED, Living Building Challenge, WELL Building Standard, Fitwel, and/or Net Zero Building certification) with this particular focus, which we look forward to discussing during the interview

The estimated base salary range for this position is $65,000-$75,000, plus eligibility for bonuses and a comprehensive benefits package, with final compensation contingent on relevant experience.
