Interior Designer

Gensler UAE is seeking an interior designer with a strong passion for design. In this position, you will collaborate with our design directors and design leadership on a variety of exciting hospitality, commercial, mixed-use, entertainment, and retail projects.

What you will do:

1. An integral part of the design team, you will work towards a cohesive and rational design solution which conforms to the project brief and is technically, legally, and financially responsible.
2. Contribute to the team effort method of producing design projects.
3. Under the direction of senior designers, you will help prepare the design analysis and research.
4. Participate in project meetings at the discretion of the design manager.
5. Help solve complex design problems through schematic design and design development.
6. Under guidance of senior designers, you will support the preparation of graphic materials for presentation to client.
7. Research and recommend appropriate systems, materials, and finishes.
8. Present design schemes and documents to the design manager.
9. Help the design development package for production.
10. Work with technical coordinator and technical team to ensure design intent is accurately interpreted in documents.
11. With design manager, liaise as necessary with client on issues of design.
12. Perform interior design assignments that include conceptual design, schematic design, design development, and construction documents.
13. Provides design support for completion and execution of design projects.
14. Develop space planning concepts and generate program documents.
15. Participates in selection of FF&E color palettes & material presentations and generate specifications.
16. Support project sustainability targets throughout project phases and actively engage in delivering them. Coordinate sustainability targets with project consultants and engineers.
17. Implement sustainable design strategies in every project stage and investigate solutions to sustainable design challenges.
18. Work collaboratively with the team to optimize sustainability performance through design iterations and research.
19. Contribute to office activities, initiatives, and learning programs.

Your qualifications:

• 2-5 year's professional experience in the design of commercial, retail, or hospitality interiors projects.
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited school of design.
• Must be a motivated self-starter with excellent communication skills and the ability to problem solve both individually and as a part of a project team.
• Proficiency in the use of Revit and other 3D computer design programs.
• Proficient in Creative Adobe Suite applications specifically InDesign.
• Knowledge of furniture, finishes, materials, and specifications.
• Strong graphic and visualization skills to communicate design ideas.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple projects at the same time.
• Knowledge in sustainable design principles required.
• LEED, WELL, Fitwel, LFA, or other rating systems accreditation preferable.
• Previous experience in sustainable design projects preferable. Especially built projects with LEED, Living Building Challenge, WELL Building Standard, Fitwel, and/or Net Zero Building certification.
• Demonstrate a collaborative and integrated approach towards achieving high sustainability project goals.

Your design technology qualifications:

• Good working knowledge and experience in Autodesk Revit for design authoring, documentation, data extracts, and project delivery.
• Good knowledge and experience with real-time rendering processes, and material creation & management within the context of integrated BIM and parametric workflows.
• Basic understanding of the setting up of new models.
• Good working knowledge and experience in Rhinoceros for design authoring.
• Basic understanding and familiarity with interoperability workflows between various design tools such as, AutoCad, Revit, Rhino, etc.
• Basic understanding and familiarity with the use of VR walkthroughs and panoramas.
• Design authoring - Revit, Rhino, Autocad, Navisworks
• Collaboration - BIM360
• Computational design - Grasshopper, Dynamo
• Building performance simulation - Insight, Sefaira, Diva, Ladybug tools
• Visualization – Vray, Enscape, Twinmotion, 3DSMax
• Graphics & productivity - Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office Suite
• Experiential – Unreal Engine, Unity
• Development – C#, Python
