Interior Designer
Gensler UAE is seeking an interior designer with a strong passion for design. In this position, you will collaborate with our design directors and design leadership on a variety of exciting hospitality, commercial, mixed-use, entertainment, and retail projects.
What you will do:
- An integral part of the design team, you will work towards a cohesive and rational design solution which conforms to the project brief and is technically, legally, and financially responsible.
- Contribute to the team effort method of producing design projects.
- Under the direction of senior designers, you will help prepare the design analysis and research.
- Participate in project meetings at the discretion of the design manager.
- Help solve complex design problems through schematic design and design development.
- Under guidance of senior designers, you will support the preparation of graphic materials for presentation to client.
- Research and recommend appropriate systems, materials, and finishes.
- Present design schemes and documents to the design manager.
- Help the design development package for production.
- Work with technical coordinator and technical team to ensure design intent is accurately interpreted in documents.
- With design manager, liaise as necessary with client on issues of design.
- Perform interior design assignments that include conceptual design, schematic design, design development, and construction documents.
- Provides design support for completion and execution of design projects.
- Develop space planning concepts and generate program documents.
- Participates in selection of FF&E color palettes & material presentations and generate specifications.
- Support project sustainability targets throughout project phases and actively engage in delivering them. Coordinate sustainability targets with project consultants and engineers.
- Implement sustainable design strategies in every project stage and investigate solutions to sustainable design challenges.
- Work collaboratively with the team to optimize sustainability performance through design iterations and research.
- Contribute to office activities, initiatives, and learning programs.
Your qualifications:
- 2-5 year's professional experience in the design of commercial, retail, or hospitality interiors projects.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited school of design.
- Must be a motivated self-starter with excellent communication skills and the ability to problem solve both individually and as a part of a project team.
- Proficiency in the use of Revit and other 3D computer design programs.
- Proficient in Creative Adobe Suite applications specifically InDesign.
- Knowledge of furniture, finishes, materials, and specifications.
- Strong graphic and visualization skills to communicate design ideas.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple projects at the same time.
- Knowledge in sustainable design principles required.
- LEED, WELL, Fitwel, LFA, or other rating systems accreditation preferable.
- Previous experience in sustainable design projects preferable. Especially built projects with LEED, Living Building Challenge, WELL Building Standard, Fitwel, and/or Net Zero Building certification.
- Demonstrate a collaborative and integrated approach towards achieving high sustainability project goals.
Your design technology qualifications:
- Good working knowledge and experience in Autodesk Revit for design authoring, documentation, data extracts, and project delivery.
- Good knowledge and experience with real-time rendering processes, and material creation & management within the context of integrated BIM and parametric workflows.
- Basic understanding of the setting up of new models.
- Good working knowledge and experience in Rhinoceros for design authoring.
- Basic understanding and familiarity with interoperability workflows between various design tools such as, AutoCad, Revit, Rhino, etc.
- Basic understanding and familiarity with the use of VR walkthroughs and panoramas.
- Design authoring - Revit, Rhino, Autocad, Navisworks
- Collaboration - BIM360
- Computational design - Grasshopper, Dynamo
- Building performance simulation - Insight, Sefaira, Diva, Ladybug tools
- Visualization – Vray, Enscape, Twinmotion, 3DSMax
- Graphics & productivity - Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office Suite
- Experiential – Unreal Engine, Unity
- Development – C#, Python
