Senior Interior Architect

WATG is hiring a Senior Interior Architect for our office in New York.

The Senior Interior Architect is an architect responsible for the issuance and content of deliverables, technical content of Wimberly Interiors documents, coordination of disciplines, including consultants, and for the supervision of all team members involved in the production of project documents. In collaboration with the Project Manager, the Senior Interior Architect is also responsible for the implementation of Construction Phase Services and securing QA reviews, and the implementation of comments. The Senior Interior Architect works on multiple complex, large-scale projects or several smaller projects.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures the overall design intent of the project established by the Creative Director or Project Designer is incorporated into the detailed documentation
  • Monitors the design process from conceptual phase through construction administration, ensuring the design idea is consistent and properly executed
  • Manages the technical resolution and coordination for a project
  • Assists with project specifications and product research
  • Checks completed reports, plans, estimates and calculations for accuracy
  • Sets the overall strategy for producing the documents and identifies the sheets planned for each stage of the work, including defining how data will be organized into files and which elements will be incorporated in a Building Information Model (BIM)
  • Manages standards
  • Communicates with other disciplines, vendors, and contractors to incorporate all information into project requirements and provide support as needed
  • Ensures that construction detail documentation conforms to quality assurance, quality control and best practice standards
  • Participates in team meetings to resolve technical issues, coordinates with other disciplines, reviews project costs and budgets and adherence to the schedule
  • Regularly communicates with client representatives to verify design requirements and specifications, progress reviews, and delivery of final presentation
  • Attends on-site visits, field reviews and project meetings, and prepares and coordinates the review of contractor's schedules, submission of shop drawings and samples
  • Supervises the preparation of technical drawings by other members of the team
  • May prepare 2D and 3D presentation and design drawings and builds models for client/project team review
  • Participates in business development meetings with team leaders to target certain projects, client or market opportunities
  • Directs the work of others and participates in project reviews
  • Incorporates integrated Sustainable Design solutions into projects
  • Fosters a green workplace through sustainable work practices

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in architecture or interior architecture
  • Professional license required
  • Environmental accreditation preferred
  • 15+ years' experience in interior architectural practice with management experience in all phases of projects from proposal through construction administration
  • Advanced knowledge of design, trends, construction methodology, material application, and architectural building systems
  • Thorough understanding of project work plans, schedules, staffing, and budgets
  • Ability to manage multiple projects of a complex scope
  • Proficient technical expertise in MS Office, Adobe Suite, Design Smart, AutoCAD, Revit, Sketchup, and other design tools; some Revit experience preferred
  • Experience in client management, project management, and negotiations
  • Ability to work in a team environment and supervise others
  • Ability to effectively meet deadlines
  • Highly effective written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Dedicated management and leadership skills
