WATG is hiring an Urban Designer I for our office in London.

The Urban Designer I collaborates with planners, architects, and other project team members to design, coordinate, and present ideas relating to a variety of resort, residential, and urban mixed-use planning and design projects. Under close supervision, the Urban Designer I supports the team in the overall efforts of completing the various phases of a project.

Responsibilities:

  • Under close supervision, supports the team in developing creative design concepts on a wide range of master planning and urban design projects, including large-scale master planned development, mixed-use and infill development, resort and hospitality destination master plan, community and neighborhood-scale master planning and design, and vision master planning
  • Performs planning assignments, including research, analysis, drafting and design development, planning and urban design graphics (2D and 3D), presentations and deliverables
  • Interprets verbal and written instructions from project leaders into completed documents and products
  • Explores new technologies and software applications under the guidance of the Studio leadership
  • Updates working drawings, design sketches, diagrams, schedules and other computer generated or hand-drawn documents as directed and produced by others
  • Assists with various project procedures, such as information storage, organization and retrieval

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in urban design, planning, architecture, or landscape architecture
  • Recent graduate to 4+ years of experience in urban design, urban planning, or architecture practices
  • Proficient in MS Office, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, Rhino, Enscape and other rendering software
  • Knowledge of Grasshopper, Ladybug and other sustainability analysis software and mapping tools
  • Experience and knowledge of Revit
  • Basic GIS knowledge and experience
  • Basic Knowledge and experience with Midjourney, and any latest AI tools approved by WATG for project work
  • Basic understanding of land use planning, residential, retail, commercial, and mixed-use development typologies
  • Effective communication skills in verbal presentation, written narrative, and graphic representation
  • Ability to manage multiple project priorities and meet deadlines consistently
  • Ability to work in a team environment
